Sony has officially confirmed a New Spider-Man spin-off, and fans of the Spider-Verse have plenty to be excited about. Notably, the upcoming animated film will focus on Hobie Brown—also known as Spider-Punk—who stole the show in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. With his rebellious energy and standout visual style, Spider-Punk quickly became one of the most talked-about characters in the franchise.
Daniel Kaluuya Leads the New Spider-Man Spinoff
One of the most exciting aspects of this new Spider-Man project is the return of Daniel Kaluuya. Previously, he voiced Hobie Brown in Across the Spider-Verse. Now, Kaluuya is set to reprise his role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is scheduled for release on June 25, 2027. In addition, he is co-writing the Spider-Punk movie alongside Ajon Singh.

Meanwhile, Kaluuya’s collaboration with Singh marks a fresh creative direction for the project. Notably, both are represented by top talent agencies—Kaluuya by WME, B Side, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett, while Singh is represented by WME, Untitled Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham. Together, this dynamic duo promises to bring both new energy and storytelling depth to the ever-expanding Spider-Verse franchise.
Who Is Spider-Punk?
For those unfamiliar, Spider-Punk hails from Earth-138 and was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 back in 2015. Created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, he quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his punk-rock aesthetic and rebellious attitude. Since then, the character has appeared in various comic arcs and alternate universes, further cementing his popularity. As a result, Spider-Punk has become a standout figure within the growing multiverse of Spider-themed heroes.
From Comic Panels to the Big Screen
Known for his anti-establishment views and gritty charm, Spider-Punk brings something entirely different to the Spidey universe. His appearance in Across the Spider-Verse sparked instant fan interest. Moreover, his unique design and bold personality stood out even among a film full of memorable characters.
A Legacy of Spider-Verse Success
The Spider-Verse films have proven to be both critical and commercial successes. To begin with, it all started with Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and earned $394 million globally. Furthermore, the momentum continued with 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse, which grossed an impressive $690 million and received another Oscar nomination.
At this point, Sony has not released specific plot details for the upcoming Spider-Punk film. Still, with Kaluuya’s involvement both behind the scenes and as the voice of Hobie, expectations are understandably high.
As the franchise continues to expand, this new Spiderman spin-off could very well become one of the most stylistically bold and narratively rich entries yet. Armed with punk rock flair and a rebellious spirit, Spider-Punk is now ready to take center stage.
