The actress revealed that she plays a detective in the upcoming Marvel film. She also explained that her character shares,
“An intense kind of connection with Spider-Man.”

While discussing her experience on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Liza Colón-Zayas shared details about an emotional scene involving Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
She explained that the scene required Spider-Man to become emotional while her character helped him regain control. According to the actress, she held Holland’s hands during the intense moment and encouraged him to stay focused.
“There was a scene where it’s like really intense, and he’s supposed to be crying, and I bring his hands down and/or I hold his hands like get a grip,” Colón-Zayas said.
However, filming the emotional sequence became unexpectedly funny. Colón-Zayas revealed that director Destin Daniel Cretton repeatedly reminded Holland to lower his hands while performing the scene.
“Tom, you know, remember to bring your hands down,” Cretton told Holland.
Eventually, Holland joked about the situation and explained why he could not follow the direction.
“I can’t. Liza’s hands are too strong,” Holland joked.
The moment highlights the fun atmosphere behind the scenes, even while the cast works on emotional and dramatic MCU scenes.

When asked if she auditioned for the role, the actress simply replied, “No.”
Instead, Colón-Zayas explained that she received a call informing her that director Destin Daniel Cretton wanted to meet with her through Zoom.
The actress recalled that their conversation immediately felt natural and enjoyable.
“I was in Chicago, and we zoomed, and we just laughed,” Colón-Zayas said.
She also admitted that she was unfamiliar with some of the larger concepts surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe before joining the project.
“I don’t know anything about the multiverses or what have you,” Colón-Zayas said.
When Haddish reacted with surprise, the actress laughed and replied:
“And now I do.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Continues Tom Holland’s MCU Story
Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will continue Tom Holland’s journey as Peter Parker following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
