VisionQuest Teaser footage offers a fresh look at Tommy Maximoff as a teenager while revealing an unexpected encounter with Ultron.
The new footage shows Tommy struggling to control his speed powers. However, his conversation with Ultron quickly becomes one of the most surprising moments in the teaser. Ultron even delivers a joke aimed directly at Tommy that references his mother, Wanda Maximoff.
VisionQuest Teaser Shows Ultron Taunting Tommy
In the new VisionQuest Teaser, Ultron appears to speak directly to Tommy and delivers a pointed comment about his family.
“You’re a real son of a witch,” Ultron tells him.
The line references Wanda, Tommy’s mother in the MCU. Tommy is the son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision. He previously appeared as a child in WandaVision, where he displayed superhuman abilities that resembled those of his maternal uncle, Pietro Maximoff. The new footage shows that Tommy has now grown into a teenager, putting him at a very different stage of his development.

Tommy Maximoff Is Struggling With His Speed Powers
The teaser also provides a closer look at Tommy’s abilities. Unlike his uncle Pietro, Tommy appears to generate blue lightning when using his speed powers. Pietro’s MCU speed effects featured a silvery-blue trailing effect rather than the crackling lightning seen around Tommy.
The new visual approach could help distinguish Tommy’s powers from Pietro’s version of super-speed. However, Tommy still appears to have difficulty controlling his abilities. His struggles could become an important part of his story as he adjusts to being a teenager while learning how to properly use his powers.
Tommy’s Powers Appear to Be Improving
Despite his difficulties, Tommy appears to make significant progress. Other promotional footage has already shown him helping Vision fight Jocasta, played by T’Nia Miller.
The latest footage suggests that Tommy’s control over his speed has improved considerably. At one point, he appears capable of becoming almost a blur while moving at high speed. Meanwhile, Tommy and his brother Billy have both developed the abilities they originally displayed as children in WandaVision. That could make the brothers increasingly important to the story as VisionQuest explores the next stage of their lives.
Could Tommy and Billy Join the Young Avengers?
Tommy and Billy eventually become important members of the Young Avengers in Marvel Comics. The MCU has already introduced several younger heroes who could potentially form the foundation for a similar team. Rumors have suggested that characters such as Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Cassie Lang could play important roles in Avengers: Secret Wars.
If those reports prove accurate, Tommy and Billy could potentially become part of a larger group of young heroes. Their involvement could eventually place them against Doctor Doom alongside other emerging MCU characters. However, there has been no official confirmation that Marvel Studios is planning a Young Avengers storyline for Secret Wars.
Could Wanda Maximoff Return?
Tommy’s connection to Wanda could also become important if his mother eventually returns. Wanda is presumed dead following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the character has continued to generate speculation about a potential MCU comeback.
Wanda has been rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, with some reports suggesting that she could potentially serve as a lieutenant of Doctor Doom. Nothing about that reported return has been officially confirmed.
Still, if Wanda does eventually return, VisionQuest could provide an important connection between her story and the arcs established in WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
VisionQuest Could Continue Wanda’s MCU Story
The VisionQuest Teaser is already giving Tommy and Billy a much larger role in the MCU’s next chapter. Tommy is developing his speed abilities, while Billy continues to grow into his own powers. At the same time, Ultron’s reference to Wanda highlights the complicated family history surrounding the two brothers.
If Wanda eventually returns, Marvel could potentially connect the stories of WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and VisionQuest. For now, however, Tommy’s encounter with Ultron and his evolving powers remain the clearest clues about what lies ahead for the character.
