During a recent Q&A, insider Alex Perez was asked whether Avengers: Secret Wars would follow the comic-book storyline involving the Life Rafts and a resistance team fighting against Doctor Doom.
Perez reportedly responded,
“There is a resistance team but no word on the liferafts.”
That answer has naturally sparked speculation among Marvel fans.
Although Marvel has not confirmed the full story of Avengers: Secret Wars, the mention of a resistance team could point toward a storyline inspired by the comics.
More importantly, it could potentially explain where Spider-Man fits into the upcoming multiversal war.
What Are the Life Rafts in Avengers: Secret Wars?
In the comics, the Life Rafts were created as a last-ditch survival plan during the final incursion.
The Illuminati and the Cabal each developed their own Life Raft. Their goal was simple: survive the destruction of their respective universes.
The Future Foundation also created a Life Raft, while the Maker developed another version for his own purposes.
Ultimately, the Life Rafts became important to the events that followed the collapse of the multiverse. They helped certain characters survive and eventually played a role in the creation of Battleworld.
However, the latest rumor suggests that Marvel’s movie adaptation may not use the Life Rafts in exactly the same way.
Instead, a resistance team could become one of the major elements of the MCU’s version of the story.
Could Spider-Man Join the Secret Wars Resistance?
This is where the Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credits scene becomes particularly interesting.
The scene reportedly involves the Spidey Tracker detecting a Spider-Man sighting in space. At first, the moment appears to raise more questions than answers.
