MCU’s New Blade

Major MCU Team Reportedly Won’t Return in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars!

A recent rumor indicates that Marvel’s Eternals won’t be returning for either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. This news has sparked speculation among fans about Phase 6 of the MCU and what it means for future storylines. Many are now wondering which characters will step in to fill the cosmic void left by the Eternals’ absence.

Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is set to release on December 18, 2026. Following this, Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theaters on December 17, 2027. This film will continue the story into Phase 6 of the MCU. Both films are highly anticipated, marking significant chapters in the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What the Rumor Says

According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, when asked if the Eternals would appear in Secret Wars, he replied:

“No Eternals in Avengers: Secret Wars, as far as I know.”

This statement aligns with earlier comments from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. He expressed pride in the first Eternals film but also confirmed that there are no plans for a sequel at this time.

Who Won’t Be Returning in Avengers: Doomsday

No Eternals characters have been announced for either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. This includes Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Thena (Angelina Jolie), and others. Consequently, fans may need to adjust their expectations as Phase 6 appears to focus on other characters and storylines.

Even supporting characters appear to be absent from these upcoming films. This includes Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman/Black Knight, Harry Styles’ Eros/Starfox, and Mahershala Ali’s Blade (voice). Consequently, this absence could significantly alter the dynamics of the MCU as Phase 6 unfolds. Moreover, it may open the door for new characters and storylines to take center stage.

Implications for Phase 6

The lack of Eternals in these major MCU events suggests a shift in Marvel’s storytelling strategy. Fans may see a stronger focus on returning Avengers characters. Additionally, new heroes and other franchises, such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange, could play a bigger role.

The absence of the Eternals may indicate that Marvel is prioritizing core Avengers storylines. This could help streamline the narrative for the climax of Phase 6. With new characters like Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and other fan favorites taking central roles, the MCU is likely preparing for fresh dynamics and exciting team-ups in the upcoming films.

While Eternals won’t appear, fans can anticipate a huge ensemble of returning heroes, epic battles, and multiversal storylines that push the MCU into new territory. Rumors suggest that Secret Wars could feature major crossovers, bringing together characters from previous phases in unexpected ways.

This strategy may also let Marvel introduce new teams and characters without overshadowing the existing Avengers. In turn, it gives the studio more flexibility to explore uncharted corners of the MCU. As a result, fans can expect fresh storylines and unexpected character interactions in Phase 6.
