Spider-Verse Creators Finally Break Silence on Live-Action Spider-Man Movie!

The creative minds behind the Spider-Verse franchise, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, have finally addressed speculation regarding a live-action Spider-Man project. In a recent interview, Miller confirmed, “Yes,” when asked if they had ever been offered a live-action Spider-Man film.

Live-Action Spider-Man Project Details Remain a Mystery

While Miller acknowledged the offer, he avoided revealing specific details about which project it was. He said,

“As you know, we love Spider-Man. We’re fans of the character and the world. We’ll leave it at that.”

The duo did not clarify whether it was a main Spider-Man film or a Sony spin-off. Moreover, Lord and Miller emphasized that their current focus remains on completing the animated Spider-Verse trilogy.

Miller said,

“We’ve got a whole Spider-Verse to finish. We’re halfway through this.”

Lord added,

“I would say I would long to have the headspace available to think of yet another one of those darned things.”

The Spider-Verse Franchise So Far

The Spider-Verse franchise has been a monumental success for Sony. The original Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) introduced audiences to Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, earning critical acclaim and winning Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Oscars.

Its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), continued the success story, grossing over $690 million worldwide. The upcoming third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release on June 18, 2027.

The franchise has been praised for its unique animation style, multiverse storytelling, and diverse representation, making it one of the most innovative Spider-Man projects in recent history. Moreover, the films have inspired fans to speculate about potential crossovers with other Marvel and Sony properties.

Upcoming Projects: Spider-Noir Live-Action Series

In addition to the animated trilogy, Lord and Miller are also developing Spider-Noir, a live-action series starring Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, an older version of Spider-Man. The show is set to premiere on May 25, 2026, on Prime Video.

Spider-Noir promises to explore darker and more mature themes within the Spider-Verse universe. According to insiders, the series will expand on the multiverse concept while offering a fresh perspective on one of Spider-Man’s lesser-known characters.

Spider-Verse Impact on the MCU and Sony Universe

The Spider-Verse films have influenced both Sony’s Spider-Man universe and the wider MCU landscape. By introducing multiple versions of Spider-Man, the franchise has laid the groundwork for future multiverse storylines. Moreover, fans are eager to see if live-action Spider-Man films will incorporate ideas from the animated series.

Lord and Miller’s involvement in a live-action Spider-Man project, while still unconfirmed, has fueled excitement across fan communities. Their expertise in storytelling and animation could bring a fresh and innovative approach to the live-action format.

With the trilogy still ongoing and the Spider-Noir series on the horizon, fans can expect a mix of animated and live-action experiences. Additionally, the success of the franchise has sparked discussions about potential spin-offs, crossovers, and multiverse storylines in future Marvel and Sony projects.
