Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance at Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel. However, he did not arrive as himself. Instead, the actor appeared in character as Deadpool and revealed a brand-new grey costume.
The surprise moment happened during the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday panel. As expected, Reynolds quickly turned the appearance into a hilarious Deadpool moment.
Ryan Reynolds Surprises Fans as Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds interrupted the Avengers: Doomsday panel while wearing Deadpool’s new grey costume. At first, he appeared to be searching for a microphone. However, the moment soon turned into a surprise appearance by the Merc with a Mouth.
Staying fully in character, Reynolds delivered several jokes to the crowd. He also continued one of the biggest running jokes from Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool Still Wants Answers About Thor
During his appearance, Deadpool once again asked why Thor was crying in Deadpool & Wolverine. The question remains one of the film’s biggest mysteries.
Reynolds also humorously asked when Avengers: Doomsday would begin filming. As always, his appearance added plenty of comedy to the major Marvel Studios presentation.
Ryan Reynolds Will Return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday
The surprise appearance also highlighted Reynolds’ official return as Deadpool. The actor will reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday.
The upcoming movie will bring together heroes from multiple universes. As a result, the film will play a major role in the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and many more.
Is Deadpool 4 Also in Development?
Ryan Reynolds may not be finished with Deadpool after Avengers: Doomsday. Reports suggest that the actor is developing a fourth Deadpool movie.
However, Marvel Studios has not officially announced the project. Therefore, fans should treat the reported Deadpool 4 development as unconfirmed until the studio provides more details.
For now, Reynolds’ next confirmed major appearance as Deadpool will be in Avengers: Doomsday.
