Marvel Studios may be preparing a major shift in its Spider-Man plans. According to a new rumor, the studio intends to use Venom across Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6. This would create a long-term symbiote storyline within the MCU. If true, the approach would allow Marvel to put its own spin on one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains. At the same time, it would maintain narrative consistency across multiple films.
Notably, Spider-Man: No Way Home already laid the groundwork for this arc. The post-credits scene showed Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock leaving behind a fragment of the Venom symbiote in the MCU. As a result, Marvel now has a clear, canonical reason to introduce its own version of the character. This allows the studio to avoid directly importing Sony’s Venom.
Spider-Man Venom Trilogy Could Revamp Venom for the MCU
According to industry insider Daniel RPK, Marvel Studios reportedly wants to reshape the symbiote mythos for its next Spider-Man era.
“Marvel wants its own take on the Symbiote for the new Spider-Man trilogy.”
This rumor suggests that Venom may not simply be a one-off antagonist. Instead, the symbiote could evolve alongside Peter Parker throughout the trilogy, potentially influencing his character arc over time. However, it is worth emphasizing that Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed these plans.
Still, Marvel’s history of long-term storytelling makes this rumor believable. By spreading Venom’s storyline across three films, the studio could explore the symbiote’s psychological and emotional impact on Spider-Man in greater depth.
Mac Gargan’s Role in the Spider-Man Venom Trilogy
compelling alternative: Mac Gargan. Played by Michael Mando, Gargan debuted in Spider-Man: Homecoming and is expected to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where he is widely believed to become Scorpion.
Importantly, Gargan already has unfinished business with Spider-Man. In Homecoming’s mid-credits scene, he blamed Peter Parker for his imprisonment. This resentment gives Gargan a clear emotional motivation to eventually bond with the symbiote.
How Marvel’s Venom Could Differ From the Comics
In Marvel Comics, Mac Gargan’s version of Venom is significantly more violent than Eddie Brock’s. While Brock followed a warped but controlled “Lethal Protector” philosophy, Gargan fully surrendered to the symbiote’s influence, becoming increasingly brutal and unhinged.
However, Marvel Studios may be taking a more restrained approach.
“Marvel reportedly doesn’t want to include Venom’s cannibalistic traits, but still wants to keep his Lethal Protector nature.”
If this rumor proves accurate, Marvel could craft a Venom that remains intimidating without pushing the character into overly graphic territory. This balance would allow Venom to fit comfortably within the MCU while still feeling dangerous and unpredictable.
Avengers: Secret Wars Could Set Up Venom’s Arrival
At present, Venom’s official MCU debut remains uncertain. That said, Avengers: Secret Wars stands out as the most logical entry point. The upcoming crossover event draws inspiration from the 1984 Secret Wars comic, which famously marks Spider-Man’s first encounter with the alien symbiote.
Moreover, Secret Wars could create the multiversal chaos needed to introduce Venom into the MCU. From there, the symbiote could move naturally into the next film and appear in future installments.
If Marvel truly plans to use Venom across multiple films, this could signal a darker and more mature direction for Spider-Man’s next chapter. Rather than facing a new villain in each installment, Peter Parker may have to confront the same evolving threat again and again.
