Marvel May Have Already Chosen the MCU’s Professor X — And It’s Not Who Fans Expected!

Marvel Studios continues to build anticipation around the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot. While fans wait for official casting announcements, several names have already surfaced in reports and online speculation.

For months, actors such as Bill Skarsgård and Tom Pelphrey have been linked to the role of Charles Xavier. However, new industry reports suggest that the casting picture may have changed significantly.

More importantly, two well-known industry insiders are now pointing toward a surprising possibility: Marvel may have already decided who will play Professor X.

Marvel MCU Professor X Casting May Already Be Decided

The latest MCU Professor X casting rumors come from industry insiders Jeff Sneider and Daniel Richtman.

According to reports, Marvel Studios may have already locked in its choice for the iconic X-Men character. However, the information currently circulating online might not reflect Marvel’s latest plans.

Sneider recently discussed the ongoing casting rumors while speaking with John Rocha. During the conversation, he addressed reports connecting Bill Skarsgård and Tom Pelphrey to the role.

Jeff Sneider Says the Casting Picture Has Changed

Sneider suggested that the situation is different from what earlier reports indicated.

He confirmed that the Bill Skarsgård rumors are legitimate. At the same time, however, he expressed doubts about reports linking Tom Pelphrey to the role.

Most importantly, Sneider suggested that some current MCU Professor X casting reports may no longer reflect Marvel’s plans.

According to Sneider, Marvel conducted screen tests during the holiday period. Those tests may have influenced the studio’s plans.

“Those tests, over around the holiday, changed the picture. So, I think it’s kind of old info that may be bubbling to the surface.”

If accurate, this could explain why several different names have appeared in recent casting reports.

Daniel Richtman Claims Marvel Has Chosen Professor X

Daniel Richtman has reportedly shared a similar update with his Patreon followers.

According to the reported information, Richtman claims that Marvel has already locked in its choice for Professor X.

However, there is an important twist.

Richtman reportedly says the chosen actor is neither Bill Skarsgård nor Tom Pelphrey.

That would make the latest rumor particularly interesting because both actors have previously been connected to the role.

Of course, Marvel Studios has not confirmed this claim. Therefore, fans should treat the report as an unverified casting rumor rather than an official announcement.

Bill Skarsgård and Tom Pelphrey Were Previously Rumored

Bill Skarsgård and Tom Pelphrey have both emerged as potential candidates during the ongoing X-Men casting speculation.

Skarsgård, in particular, has been viewed by some fans as a strong fit for a younger and authoritative version of Charles Xavier. His previous performances have also helped fuel speculation about his potential involvement.

Meanwhile, Pelphrey’s dramatic acting background has made him another interesting choice for the character.

However, if the latest reports are accurate, neither actor may ultimately become the MCU’s Professor X.

Why the Rumors May Have Changed?

Marvel Studios has remained extremely careful with its casting plans for the X-Men reboot.

As a result, early reports can quickly become outdated, especially when screen tests and internal casting decisions are still taking place.

Sneider’s comments about Marvel’s screen tests could explain why previously reported names continue to circulate even though the studio may have moved in another direction.

Could James McAvoy Return as Professor X?

Another possibility has also continued to attract attention from fans.

Some Marvel fans have speculated that James McAvoy could return as Professor X in the MCU. McAvoy previously portrayed Charles Xavier in the Fox X-Men movies, making him a familiar face for the role.

There has also been speculation that Michael Fassbender could return as Magneto.

However, these remain fan theories at this stage. There is currently no official confirmation that McAvoy or Fassbender will reprise their respective X-Men roles in the MCU.

Marvel could instead choose an entirely new actor and establish a fresh version of Charles Xavier for the upcoming X-Men reboot.

Marvel Has Not Confirmed Its Professor X Casting

Despite the growing number of reports, Marvel Studios has not officially announced its choice for Professor X.

That means the identities of the actors mentioned in recent rumors remain unconfirmed.

The Bill Skarsgård reports may be legitimate, according to Sneider, while the Tom Pelphrey reports have faced more uncertainty. At the same time, Richtman’s reported claim suggests that Marvel may have already selected someone else.

Therefore, fans should remain cautious until Marvel makes an official announcement.

The MCU Professor X casting could become one of the most closely watched decisions surrounding Marvel’s X-Men reboot.

Professor X is one of the franchise’s most important characters. As the founder and leader of the X-Men, Charles Xavier could play a major role in establishing the team’s place within the MCU.

For now, however, Marvel appears to be keeping its plans under wraps.

If the latest reports are accurate, the actor eventually announced as Professor X could be someone fans have not yet seriously considered.
