Mahershala Ali as Blade

Mahershala Ali Breaks Silence on Blade After Long Delays!

Mahershala Ali as Blade: Actor Stays Committed

Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has finally broken his silence on Marvel’s long-delayed Blade reboot. After years of development issues and uncertainty, he made it clear—he’s still all in. Despite the setbacks, Mahershala Ali as Blade remains a top priority for both the actor and the studio. In fact, his latest comments serve as a strong reminder that Mahershala Ali as Blade is not just alive—it’s inevitable.

Mahershala Ali Dodges, Then Delivers

While appearing on Vogue’s Off the Cuff with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey to promote Jurassic World Rebirth, Ali cheekily avoided a question about Marvel.

“Leave me out of it… That’s a Scarlett question.” – Mahershala Ali

Moments later, Bailey chimed in with a playful tease:

“Well, there’s one that we’re very excited about.” – Jonathan Bailey

Ali stayed silent then, but during the New York premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth, he finally gave fans what they were waiting for.

“I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready.” – Mahershala Ali

Blade’s Long Road to the MCU

Blade, the story of a half-human, half-vampire vampire hunter, has had a long and turbulent journey toward the big screen. The project first gained massive attention when Mahershala Ali as Blade was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. However, since then, progress has been anything but smooth.

Over the years, the film has endured multiple script rewrites, unexpected director exits, and ongoing production delays. As a result, both fans and insiders have repeatedly questioned whether the reboot will ever actually see the light of day.

Still, Marvel hasn’t abandoned the project. In fact, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige offered a glimmer of hope during D23 Brazil 2024, stating:

“We love the character. We love Mahershala’s take on him… The character will indeed make it to the MCU.”

Clearly, while the road has been bumpy, Mahershala Ali as Blade remains firmly in Marvel’s plans.

Blade’s Costumes Resurface in Sinners

Although Blade remains on pause, parts of its production are already finding new life elsewhere in the Marvel Universe. Most notably, the upcoming Marvel film Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, has inherited some surprising elements from the stalled project.

According to Sev Ohanian, producer of Sinners, several costume pieces originally designed for Blade have been repurposed:

“Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting… She had a warehouse full of period-appropriate clothes, and Marvel was kind enough to let us basically purchase it.” – Sev Ohanian

This crossover detail not only reflects Marvel’s resourcefulness but also subtly keeps the spirit of Mahershala Ali as Blade alive—at least for now. While fans continue to wait for updates, such behind-the-scenes connections remind us that the character’s presence is still influencing future MCU projects.

What’s Next for Mahershala Ali as Blade?

As of now, there is still no official start date for Blade, and Mahershala Ali remains mostly silent about the film’s status. However, despite the prolonged silence and countless delays, one thing remains absolutely clear—he hasn’t walked away.

In fact, his recent words speak volumes:

“I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready.” – Mahershala Ali

So while the future of Blade may seem uncertain on the surface, behind the scenes, Mahershala Ali as Blade is still very much alive. For fans who’ve waited patiently since 2019, that’s all the reassurance they need—for now.
