Channing Tatum’s New Take on Gambit
Channing Tatum has confirmed that his portrayal of Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday will be more serious and subdued compared to his comedic variant in Deadpool and Wolverine. Moreover, the tone is noticeably different this time. Marvel Studios and the Russo Brothers aimed for a more grounded approach.
Tatum explained:
“They want things to be funny, but they don’t want to go full Deadpool. They want to keep the drama and keep it tight. When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”
This marks a clear departure from the comedic charm fans enjoyed previously, highlighting a more serious, dramatic side of the character. Moreover, Tatum’s approach reflects the evolving tone of the MCU, balancing humor with high-stakes storytelling.
