Marvel has finally provided a clearer look at the VisionQuest Timeline. The upcoming Disney+ series will not pick up immediately after WandaVision. Instead, the story jumps several years forward in the MCU.
Showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed the timeline while discussing the series with Polygon. His comments also reveal how closely VisionQuest connects to the current MCU.
VisionQuest Timeline Jumps Several Years Ahead
The VisionQuest Timeline places the series roughly four years after WandaVision. Matalas told Polygon,
“Years have passed since WandaVision. I would say we’re about current with Spider-Man: Brand New Day,”
That means the story takes place after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha All Along. The timeline also brings Vision closer to the MCU’s present-day events. The time jump gives the series room to explore what Vision has experienced since his last major appearance.
White Vision Faces an Identity Crisis
Paul Bettany returns as White Vision, who remains at the center of the story. After regaining his memories in Westview, Vision still faces a major problem. He remembers his past, but he does not regain the emotions connected to those memories.
That creates a central question for the character: Is White Vision still the same person who was once Wanda Maximoff’s partner?
The eight-episode series will explore Vision’s attempt to understand his identity and determine what kind of person he wants to become.
VisionQuest Continues the WandaVision Story
VisionQuest serves as the final installment in the loose trilogy that began with WandaVision. The second chapter, Agatha All Along, expanded the supernatural side of the story. Now, VisionQuest shifts the focus back toward Vision and his search for identity.
However, the series will also introduce several familiar MCU characters and expand on stories that began much earlier in the franchise.
Ultron and F.R.I.D.A.Y. Return
James Spader returns as Ultron, giving Vision another connection to his complicated history. Orla Brady also reprises her role as F.R.I.D.A.Y. The series will explore F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s perspective on Tony Stark’s death during Avengers: Endgame.
That storyline could provide a different perspective on one of the MCU’s most important moments. It may also help connect Vision’s story to his origins as an artificial intelligence created using Stark’s technology.
Thomas Shepherd Joins Vision
The VisionQuest Timeline also introduces Thomas Shepherd, played by Ruaridh Mollica. Vision encounters Thomas while the two are on the run, and the pair eventually become companions. Their relationship could become an important part of Vision’s journey. Thomas may also have a larger role in the MCU as the story develops.
Meanwhile, Todd Stashwick plays Paladin, a bounty hunter pursuing Vision. With Vision on the run and Paladin hunting him, the series appears ready to combine the character’s identity struggle with a larger chase storyline.
When Does VisionQuest Premiere?
VisionQuest premieres on October 14, 2026, exclusively on Disney+. The confirmed VisionQuest Timeline places the story several years after WandaVision, allowing Marvel to explore how Vision has changed since his memories returned.
With Paul Bettany back as White Vision, James Spader returning as Ultron, and F.R.I.D.A.Y. rejoining the story, the series could provide a major conclusion to the trilogy that began with WandaVision.
