Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday Reportedly Scraps One of the MCU’s Boldest Multiverse Ideas!

Marvel Studios has remained secretive about Avengers: Doomsday, but that has not stopped new rumors from surfacing. This time, a fresh report claims the film has quietly removed one of its most ambitious multiverse concepts. If true, the decision could reshape expectations for the MCU’s biggest crossover yet.

While Marvel has not confirmed the rumor, it offers fresh details about the universes that could appear in the film. At the same time, it suggests Marvel may take a more focused approach to its Multiverse Saga.

Avengers: Doomsday Rumor Claims Marvel Cut Animated Universe

According to well-known scooper Alex Perez, Avengers: Doomsday is no longer expected to feature an animated universe.

Previously, rumors suggested Marvel planned to revisit the idea after briefly introducing an animated reality in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Perez now claims those plans have changed.

He stated:

“From what I have been informed, that idea is no longer happening.”

If accurate, the report indicates Marvel has simplified the film’s multiverse lineup instead of expanding it further. While the animated concept sounded ambitious, the studio may have decided to focus on fewer realities.

Of course, Marvel Studios has not confirmed this information. Therefore, fans should treat it as a rumor until official announcements arrive.

Avengers: Doomsday Could Feature Six Different Universes

Besides discussing the removed animated world, Perez also shared what he believes are the six universes appearing in Avengers: Doomsday.

According to him, the movie currently includes:

  • Main MCU
  • Fantastic Four Universe
  • X-Men Universe
  • Doctor Doom’s Original Universe
  • Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Universe
  • A hidden pocket dimension

Perez explained:

“At the moment, there are 6 universes that we will see in Avengers: Doomsday. Those are: Main MCU, Fantastic Four, X-Men Universe, Doom’s Original Universe, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Universe, and a pocket dimension (though I might be describing that last one incorrectly; it’s basically ‘the universe that’s hidden away’).”

Interestingly, the report also suggests Doctor Doom comes from a universe separate from Earth-828, which is reportedly home to the Fantastic Four. If this claim proves accurate, it could significantly reshape the villain’s role in the upcoming crossover.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man aligns with recent speculation that the fan-favorite web-slinger could return for the film.

Marvel Has Already Explored Animated Universes

Although this rumor suggests Marvel has dropped the animated universe concept, the MCU has explored similar ideas before.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange and America Chavez briefly traveled through an animated reality while crossing the multiverse. That sequence demonstrated that animated worlds already exist within Marvel’s cinematic multiverse.

Furthermore, Marvel expanded those possibilities through What If…? and Marvel Zombies. Both animated series proved the studio is willing to experiment with different realities and storytelling styles.

Therefore, even if the animated universe does not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel could still revisit the concept in future MCU projects.

Marvel Studios has yet to officially reveal the story of Avengers: Doomsday. However, fans expect the studio to share more details during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July.

Before the film arrives, Marvel will also re-release Avengers: Endgame in theaters with a new title and an additional post-credits scene. That release could help build excitement for the next Avengers installment.

For now, this report remains an unconfirmed rumor. Nevertheless, if Marvel has streamlined its multiverse plans, Avengers: Doomsday could deliver a more focused story while still bringing together some of the franchise’s biggest worlds.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
