He explained clearly:
“There will be a small time jump, but it’s not too significant. It’s not like we’re jumping ahead five years or anything. We’re probably jumping ahead a year or so, kind of like the real-life distance between seasons,”
This means the story will naturally align with real-world production gaps, helping maintain continuity while still allowing characters to evolve off-screen. Importantly, this also gives Marvel room to reset the emotional tone of the series without rewriting established arcs.
Matt Murdock’s Prison Story Becomes Central Focus
Because of this time jump, Matt Murdock will have already spent approximately one year in prison when Season 3 begins.
Season 2 ended with a dramatic turning point where Matt publicly revealed himself as Daredevil and exposed Wilson Fisk’s criminal actions. This directly led to his incarceration, marking one of the most consequential endings in the series so far.

Winderbaum added:
“It came out of season two development. I don’t know that Dario went into season two knowing that it was going to end that way,”
