Black Panther 3

Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 3 Gets a Promising Update!

Marvel Studios is officially moving forward with Black Panther 3, and fans have reason to celebrate. Ryan Coogler is already involved in developing the project and looks set to return as director for the third time. After delivering two critically acclaimed and culturally impactful films, Coogler’s potential comeback is generating strong anticipation for the sequel.

In a new report from Variety, it’s confirmed that:

“Ideas are percolating on a Ryan Coogler-helmed Black Panther 3, creating excitement internally.”

This statement marks the first major public development regarding the sequel since Wakanda Forever hit theaters in 2022.

Black Panther 3 Takes a Big Step Forward

The news of Ryan Coogler’s possible return comes as no surprise. His direction helped launch Black Panther (2018) into a global phenomenon, earning over $1.3 billion at the box office and becoming the first superhero film nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, built on that momentum while honoring the legacy of Chadwick Boseman.

Given this legacy, the internal enthusiasm at Marvel Studios is understandable. Coogler’s creative leadership is a cornerstone of the franchise, and his return ensures that Black Panther 3 remains in trusted hands.

Although Marvel has yet to confirm a release date, there is strong speculation that Black Panther 3 may arrive in July 2027. This assumption is based on a currently untitled MCU film scheduled for that window—nestled between Avengers: Doomsday (December 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 2027).

Since reports have ruled out Jake Schreier’s rumored X-Men film for that date, industry insiders now point to Black Panther 3 as the likely replacement. If true, fans won’t have to wait too long to return to Wakanda.

Early Clues Hint at Black Panther 3 Connections

Marvel is keeping story details under wraps, but a few clues have already surfaced. Coogler has previously expressed interest in collaborating with Denzel Washington. Although the role remains a mystery, the idea alone has generated considerable excitement.

At the same time, several key characters from the franchise are already set to appear in upcoming MCU projects. Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), and Namor (Tenoch Huerta) are all confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, which may serve as a narrative bridge into Black Panther 3.

Eyes on Wakanda: The Universe Expands

Beyond the films, Marvel is also continuing to build out the Wakandan world. To expand the lore further, the animated series Eyes of Wakanda premieres on Disney+ this Friday, August 1, 2025. Notably, the show is executive-produced by Coogler and directed by Todd Harris, which adds even more depth to Wakanda’s mythology in a fresh and engaging format.

The voice cast includes:

  • Winnie Harlow
  • Cress Williams
  • Patricia Belcher
  • Jona Xiao
  • Steve Toussaint

With fresh additions like new characters and timelines, Eyes of Wakanda now offers fans even more insight into the kingdom’s past. Moreover, it arrives just in time to build anticipation for Black Panther 3.

In the meantime, fans can revisit the first two films in the saga while awaiting more updates. Currently, both Black Panther and Wakanda Forever are available to stream on Disney+, offering powerful storytelling, rich world-building, and emotional performances that continue to resonate. Whether you’re reliving Shuri’s rise or exploring Namor’s underwater empire, these films remain essential viewing as we move closer to the release of the third installment.
