Marvel Studios officially confirmed that a character previously thought gone will return in WandaVision: Vision Quest. Moreover, the sequel will release in 2026. During this announcement at New York Comic-Con, the Marvel Animation and Marvel Television panel revealed that actor Ruaridh Mollica will portray the reincarnated, older version of Tommy Maximoff (Speed).
A trailer shown at the event concluded with security footage of Tommy declaring:
“I have a family!”
This exciting update has fans eagerly anticipating how WandaVision will integrate the hero into the broader MCU storyline. Furthermore, Marvel hinted at additional surprises for viewers. For example, they teased new characters and unexpected crossovers. As a result, these developments may expand the scope of WandaVision’s narrative even further.
WandaVision Character History and Context
This move continues a pattern established in the WandaVision storyline:
- The younger version of Tommy appeared in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (alternate reality), and actor Jett Klyne originally played him.
- His twin brother, Billy Maximoff (Wiccan), appeared as a child played by Julian Hilliard and now appears as a teenager portrayed by Joe Locke in Agatha All Along.
- The Hex around Westview collapsed at the end of WandaVision, erasing both twins from existence. Agatha All Along set up the quest to restore Tommy’s soul.
Fans have eagerly speculated about the twins’ return, and this announcement confirms their reintroduction. Furthermore, this storyline gives Marvel an opportunity to explore the emotional impact on Wanda as she navigates her family’s complex journey and her own evolving powers.
Vision Quest will center on Paul Bettany’s Vision as he embarks on a quest to rediscover his identity. While Billy and Agatha may not be central characters, WandaVision fans will witness Tommy’s disembodied soul finding a new, adult form and growing into his powers as Speed.
The introduction of both aged-up twins is a significant step toward forming the Young Avengers in the MCU’s future. Additionally, the series is expected to explore themes of heroism, family, and identity. It will provide both action-packed sequences and heartfelt character moments. With Disney+ positioning Vision Quest as a major Phase 6 project, fans can expect deep connections to the wider MCU. The series may also offer hints at upcoming Avengers storylines.
Vision Quest is scheduled to stream on Disney+ in 2026. It will continue the exciting storytelling that WandaVision fans have come to love. This sequel is set to become one of the most anticipated MCU projects. It will bridge the past events of WandaVision with the future of the Young Avengers.
