Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Nearly Broke Marvel’s Biggest Viewership Record — Here’s Why It Fell Short!

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has made a massive impact online. In fact, the upcoming Marvel Studios movie delivered one of the biggest trailer launches in the history of the MCU. However, despite the enormous number of views, the trailer narrowly missed one major record. Even so, Avengers: Doomsday has already claimed an impressive place in Marvel’s trailer history.

Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Earns 503 Million Views

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer generated an incredible 503 million views within its first 24 hours of release.

As a result, the trailer became one of Marvel Studios’ biggest-ever online launches. The number also shows the enormous interest surrounding the next Avengers movie.

Nevertheless, the trailer did not become Marvel’s biggest movie trailer launch. That record still belongs to Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Marvel’s Biggest Trailer Record Still Belongs to Spider-Man

Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains the biggest movie trailer launch in Marvel history. The trailer reportedly earned more than 719 million views during its first 24 hours.

Therefore, Avengers: Doomsday fell short of the all-time record by more than 200 million views.

Still, the result is far from disappointing. The new Avengers movie now ranks as the second-biggest movie trailer launch ever, surpassing the record previously held by Deadpool & Wolverine.

That achievement is especially impressive because Avengers: Doomsday is still months away from its theatrical release.

Marvel’s Trailer Release Strategy Created Huge Interest

Marvel Studios built anticipation for the trailer long before its full release.

First, the trailer debuted at CinemaCon. However, footage from the presentation later spread online through fan recreations, leaks, and spoiler discussions.

Marvel also released four teaser previews before launching the full trailer. Each preview focused on a different major part of the movie’s story.

The previews highlighted:

  • Steve Rogers
  • Thor
  • The X-Men
  • The Wakandans meeting the Fantastic Four

Consequently, fans had plenty of reasons to speculate about the full trailer. The strategy also helped keep Avengers: Doomsday in the spotlight for weeks.

Avengers: Doomsday Ticket Sales Break Major Marvel Milestone

The trailer was not the only major success for the movie.

Disney also opened ticket sales alongside the trailer’s online release. In just two hours, pre-sales reportedly surpassed the combined pre-sales of Marvel’s 2025 releases.

Initially, Disney limited advance ticket sales to 1,000 Infinity Vision-certified screens across North America.

Despite that limitation, the early demand was extremely strong. Moreover, the studio is expected to expand the movie to approximately 4,000 North American screens when it officially opens.

Avengers: Doomsday Faces an IMAX Challenge

The movie’s release will also face an unusual screen-format challenge.

Dune: Part Three is expected to occupy IMAX screens during the first weeks of its theatrical run. Therefore, Avengers: Doomsday will initially depend heavily on standard theaters and other premium large-format screens.

Later, however, the movie is expected to expand its IMAX presence once more screens become available.

This could make the film’s opening strategy different from other major Marvel releases. Still, the huge trailer response and strong pre-sales suggest that audience interest remains incredibly high.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2026.

The movie is expected to become one of Marvel Studios’ biggest theatrical events. Furthermore, the combination of the Avengers name, returning heroes, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and other major Marvel characters has created enormous excitement.

Although the trailer did not break Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record, its 503 million views remain an extraordinary achievement.
