Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame Encore May Include a Major Surprise That Changes Everything Before Doomsday!

Avengers: Endgame is returning to theaters with a new version that could contain a major surprise for Marvel fans. The Infinity Saga finale remains one of the most important movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, however, Marvel Studios may be using its return to set the stage for the next major Avengers event.

The upcoming re-release could offer fans more than another chance to watch the record-breaking superhero movie on the big screen. In fact, new footage may connect the events of Avengers: Endgame directly to Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Endgame Encore Could Feature New Doomsday Footage

Avengers: Endgame will return to theaters on September 25 as Avengers: Endgame Encore. Marvel Studios has not revealed every detail about the re-release yet. However, the new version could include material that connects directly to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

According to insider @Cryptic4KQual, the re-release could feature a new opening and additional bonus scenes. The ending may also lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday. The insider also claims that the new version could be approximately seven minutes longer than the original theatrical cut.

“I hear the Avengers: Endgame Encore will have a new intro, new bonus scenes, and the ending sequence will lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday. Take with a grain of salt, but I’m also hearing it will be 7 minutes longer than the original.”

Of course, the report remains unconfirmed. Therefore, fans should treat the rumored details with caution until Marvel Studios officially announces the new footage.

Avengers: Endgame Could Get a Major New Ending

Marvel Studios has not confirmed the details of the reported post-credits scene. Nevertheless, the rumor suggests that Avengers: Doomsday could be a more direct continuation of Avengers: Endgame than fans previously expected.

The idea also matches comments previously made by Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Speaking at the Sands Film Festival in April, Joe Russo described the re-release as a “critical companion story” for the upcoming Avengers movie.

He also explained that the new footage would help connect the two films.

“It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame.”

The director further described the re-release as a unique bridge between the two movies.

“It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way, and because the movie was so successful, we have an opportunity to re-release it.”

As a result, Avengers: Endgame Encore could provide important context before audiences watch Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Endgame Encore Could Change the Road to Doomsday

The original Avengers: Endgame became a worldwide phenomenon after its release in 2019. The movie earned $1.2 billion globally during its opening and eventually reached $2.799 billion worldwide.

For a short time, it also became the highest-grossing movie ever released. However, Avatar reclaimed the record after a later re-release.

Because of the movie’s enormous success, Marvel Studios has a rare opportunity. The studio can now revisit one of the MCU’s most important stories and use it to introduce the next chapter of the franchise.

Joe Russo previously explained why the new footage is important:

“You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity.”

Therefore, Avengers: Endgame Encore could become more than a simple theatrical re-release. Instead, it may serve as a major piece of the larger Avengers: Doomsday story.

Avengers: Doomsday Brings the Russo Brothers Back

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The filmmakers are returning to the MCU after previously directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The Russo brothers previously shared their excitement about returning to Marvel:

“Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves.”

Avengers: Doomsday Features a Massive MCU Cast

The upcoming movie will feature a huge ensemble cast from across the Marvel Universe.

The cast includes Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Lewis Pullman, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, Ian McKellen, Sebastian Stan, Winston Duke, Chris Hemsworth, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Wyatt Russell, Vanessa Kirby, Rebecca Romijn, Patrick Stewart, Alan Cumming, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Pedro Pascal, Hannah John-Kamen, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Anthony Mackie, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

With such a massive cast involved, the story could have major consequences for the future of the MCU. More importantly, the reported new footage in Avengers: Endgame Encore could reveal how the events of the Infinity Saga connect to the next Avengers storyline.

For now, Marvel has not confirmed the full details of the re-release. However, if the reports are accurate, Avengers: Endgame Encore could contain a major surprise that changes how fans view the transition from Endgame to Avengers: Doomsday.
