A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests that one of the MCU’s most beloved supporting characters could have a surprisingly brief appearance in the upcoming crossover film. Although Tom Hiddleston is officially returning as Loki, a recent report claims Owen Wilson’s Mobius may play only a minor part.
If the rumor proves accurate, it would mark a major change for the character after his significant role throughout both seasons of Loki. However, Marvel Studios has not confirmed the report, so fans should treat it as speculation for now.
Avengers: Doomsday Rumor Claims Mobius Has a Surprisingly Small Role
According to Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Mobius’ role in Avengers: Doomsday is far smaller than many fans expected.
The scooper wrote:
“Mobius’ role is watching a hole in the wall in Avengers Doomsday.”
After several fans assumed the post was a joke, the scooper responded with another message and insisted the information was genuine.
“Yea that isn’t a joke.”
If this report is accurate, Mobius would receive only a brief appearance despite becoming one of the most popular characters introduced during Marvel Studios’ Loki series. Nevertheless, until Marvel officially comments, the report remains an unconfirmed rumor.
Loki Is Officially Returning in Avengers: Doomsday
While Mobius’ involvement remains uncertain, Marvel has already confirmed Tom Hiddleston’s return as Loki.
During Disney’s Giornate Di Cinema Sorrento presentation, Marvel officially revealed that Loki will be part of Sam Wilson’s “Heroic Avengers” team. The reported lineup also includes Thor, Shang-Chi, Joaquin Torres, and Ant-Man as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes prepare to face Doctor Doom.
Loki and Mobius shared one of the strongest friendships in the Multiverse Saga. As a result, many fans expected them to reunite in the next Avengers film. Therefore, this latest rumor has surprised many viewers.
Mobius Played a Major Role Throughout Loki
Owen Wilson portrayed Mobius across both seasons of Marvel Studios’ Loki on Disney+.
As one of Loki’s closest allies inside the Time Variance Authority (TVA), Mobius helped uncover the organization’s secrets while guiding Loki through the increasingly dangerous multiverse.
By the end of Loki Season 2, Mobius chose to leave the TVA behind. Instead of returning to his previous responsibilities, he quietly watched his Sacred Timeline variant, Don, spending time with his two children in Ohio.
That emotional ending appeared to complete Mobius’ personal journey. Even so, many fans believed he would eventually return alongside Loki in one of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers films.
More Avengers: Doomsday Cast Members May Still Be Revealed
Marvel officially announced 26 cast members for Avengers: Doomsday during its March 2025 reveal. However, Owen Wilson was not among the names confirmed at the time.
Even so, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. both said Marvel would reveal more cast members later. As a result, Mobius could still appear in the movie even if Marvel has not officially announced his involvement.
Avengers: Doomsday will unite heroes from multiple universes as they battle Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
The film is directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
Marvel has scheduled Avengers: Doomsday to release in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026. After that, Avengers: Secret Wars is set to arrive on December 17, 2027, bringing the Multiverse Saga to its conclusion.
Although the latest report suggests Mobius could have an unexpectedly tiny role in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios has not verified the claim.
Because Marvel frequently keeps important appearances secret until release, the studio could still have surprises planned for the film. Until official details emerge, fans should view this report as an unconfirmed rumor rather than confirmed information.
