A recent social media post from Vin Diesel has sparked widespread speculation among Marvel fans, suggesting that Vin Diesel’s Groot could return in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday.
Diesel, who voices the beloved tree-like hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently shared a new illustration of Groot on Instagram. The image quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom began speculating that Vin Diesel’s Groot could return in the next major Avengers crossover.

In the social media post, the actor shared artwork of Groot towering over Iron Man. Although the image did not mention any upcoming Marvel projects, many fans quickly connected it to Avengers: Doomsday.
Alongside the artwork, Diesel reflected on his experience working with the late actor Dennis Hopper in the 2001 crime film Knockaround Guys.
“I had the great pleasure of working with Dennis Hopper in Knockaround Guys,”
Diesel wrote.
He continued by recalling a quote from Hopper that had stayed with him over the years:
“I was reflecting on a quote of his,’Create or Die’… Such an authentic artist’s perspective. Whether it’s a Tree, or an infamous New York Detective… The Riddick Universe or the Fast Saga… you’ve always been there… thank you. You inspire me more than you know…”
Fans Believe Vin Diesel’s Groot Could Return
Soon after the post appeared, fans flooded the comments with speculation that Vin Diesel’s Groot could return in Avengers: Doomsday.
One fan confidently wrote,
“VIN WILL RETURN IN AVENGERS DOOMSDAY,”
while another commented,
“Groot will return in Doom’s Day.”
Although these reactions remain speculation, the discussion highlights how closely fans follow Diesel’s posts for hints about the future of Vin Diesel’s Groot in the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday Expected to Feature Many Marvel Heroes
Avengers: Doomsday is set to feature one of the biggest superhero lineups in Marvel history. In fact, the film could bring together heroes from several major teams, including the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and New Avengers, making it a true Marvel crossover event.
Because of the film’s large scope, many fans believe it would make sense for Vin Diesel’s Groot and other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy to appear.

Interestingly, the fan speculation comes just two months after an insider known as The Beyond Reporter claimed that Groot would not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Furthermore, the same insider previously hinted that Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord, might still appear in the movie.
Adding to the mystery, several major Marvel characters were also missing from the film’s initial cast reveal livestream in March 2025. These included Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Their absence has fueled speculation among fans that Marvel may still be keeping some surprise appearances under wraps.
Will Vin Diesel’s Groot Return to the MCU?
Marvel Studios has not confirmed if Vin Diesel’s Groot will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Many fans still hope he could appear in this film or the next crossover, Avengers: Secret Wars.
