Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda is arriving sooner than expected—streaming on August 1 exclusively on Disney+. Now, with the newly released trailer and striking character posters, Marvel isn’t just teasing an epic adventure. Instead, they also introduce the MCU’s first Iron Fist on Earth-616. Ultimately, it’s a major moment for fans of both Wakanda and K’un-Lun.
Eyes of Wakanda Brings Global Vibranium Missions
In this story, the four-episode series follows the Hatut Zeraze—Wakandan warriors on globe-spanning missions. Their goal is to retrieve Vibranium artifacts that have been stolen or lost throughout history. As the episodes unfold, they move through time and across borders. Along the way, they not only protect Wakanda’s secrets but also uncover forgotten truths. Through this lens, Eyes of Wakanda places these warriors at the center of a narrative that blends action with cultural legacy.
Previously, Netflix’s Iron Fist introduced Danny Rand, played by Finn Jones. However, this version is distinct. For the first time, it marks the official appearance of a K’un-Lun protector within the sacred MCU timeline—firmly cementing Iron Fist in Earth-616 continuity.
New Iron Fist Officially Joins the MCU in Eyes of Wakanda
With the release of Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Studios finally brings Iron Fist into the core MCU. In this new version, the character’s fresh take connects mystical lore with Wakanda’s ancient mission. Although this Iron Fist’s identity is yet to be fully revealed, their presence alone rewrites the rules—particularly as it intersects with Wakanda’s long-hidden operations.
Rather than simply serving nostalgia or retconning past adaptations, the series builds a more integrated Marvel Universe by merging K’un-Lun’s defenders with Wakanda’s warriors.
Behind the Scenes: Powerful Creators Leading the Series
Directed and executive produced by Todd Harris—known for his work on Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, John Wick, and Sinners—the show blends historical context with superhero spectacle. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Harris explained the deeper layers of the story:
“People pull truth out of history, and it might not necessarily be objective truth, but it’s theirs.”
Harris continued:
“And also, people who try to make events happen give it a personal context. The quote [from the show], ‘It’s written by people who weren’t there and didn’t have anything to do with it,’ but they’re trying to make that story mean something to them.”
“So that’s an interesting needle to thread throughout the series… And then we have some episodes where we do that, and then we kind of back off a little bit and get a little bit more Marvel with it, and then jump back into it.”
In addition to Harris, the executive producing team includes Marvel heavyweights Ryan Coogler, Kevin Feige, Brad Winderbaum, Louis D’Esposito, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt.
Eyes of Wakanda’s Voice Cast and Legacy
The voice cast features a stellar lineup, including Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, and Anika Noni Rose. Their performances add emotional depth and dynamic energy to the Wakandan warriors’ legacy. In Eyes of Wakanda, each character reflects the complex struggle of safeguarding Vibranium while navigating personal and political stakes.
What Eyes of Wakanda Means for the MCU
This series isn’t just a side-story—it’s a bridge between long-standing mythologies. By revealing the MCU’s first Iron Fist in such a grounded and purpose-driven series, Marvel signals a broader plan for merging mystical and historical narratives. Eyes of Wakanda represents a fresh frontier for the franchise, blending animation, cultural identity, and superhero tradition.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Marvel Animation, Eyes of Wakanda promises to deliver on action, legacy, and surprising character debuts. With its early August release and its canonical introduction of Iron Fist into the sacred MCU timeline, it’s shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most culturally resonant series to date.
