Olga Kurylenko is known for her role as Taskmaster in Black Widow and for her brief appearance in Thunderbolts. She recently revealed in an interview that she plans to take a break from acting. Kurylenko also shared her thoughts on her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking with ComingSoon, Kurylenko admitted:
“Yeah, it’s nonstop. To the point that I forget what I’ve done. I really don’t remember, and I had to look it up on IMDB. Actually, some things are not even on IMDB. For some reason, they didn’t get it yet. So, yeah, I think I’ve worked too much, and I’m gonna take a break because it’s too much [laughs]. But look, I enjoyed doing every movie. I just shouldn’t do this every year [laughs].”
Her comments reflect the intensity of working in Hollywood and the MCU, where actors often juggle multiple projects and press obligations while filming blockbuster films.
Thunderbolts: MCU Fans React to Taskmaster’s Fate
The actress also addressed the passionate response from MCU fans, many of whom were upset that her character was killed off quickly in Thunderbolts. Kurylenko shared her thoughts:
“I was surprised, and obviously, because I think that guy who started it tagged me, so now I know who he is. So I constantly see him posting, he’s still posting, and I mean, it touched me. And of course, you know, I put likes to thank him because he didn’t have to do this. It comes from his heart, and he says that he will fight for it. And that, and he’s gathering all these people. I mean, it’s really heartwarming, and I appreciate it a lot.”
“And of course, you know, my love goes out to all those people. But, sadly, we don’t decide. So we just have to see what Marvel is preparing next. And they will decide what’s gonna happen next. We’ll see.”
Taskmaster’s brief appearance surprised many viewers, especially since the character was set up as a major villain in Black Widow. Fans have expressed their desire for the character to return, creating online campaigns and discussions about how the MCU might bring her back in future projects.
Uncertainty Surrounds MCU Plans
Kurylenko also spoke about the larger changes happening within the MCU and how they might impact her future:
“I don’t know how many people they need for that to happen. It’s hard to tell how Marvel really rates the success or not, and what exactly they need and what their plans. ’cause I know they’re changing everything, and which is why, you know, the last movie was the way it was. Because they are rethinking characters and changing characters, and I think they took off quite a few characters, just like throwing them away because there were too many. So whatever’s going on, there’s a big reassessment, or how you call it… big changes. I really don’t know where they’re gonna go from here. They’re trying to do something new, and I don’t know what that is.”
Her comments highlight the MCU’s current phase of transition, where Marvel Studios is reshaping its cinematic universe in Phase 5 and 6, introducing new heroes and rethinking established characters. With Thunderbolts setting the stage for a darker, more morally complex side of the MCU, it’s unclear if Taskmaster or other characters might return in future storylines.
The Future of Taskmaster and the MCU
While Kurylenko takes a break from acting, fans remain hopeful that Taskmaster could appear in upcoming MCU films or Disney+ series. Marvel has a history of resurrecting characters or reintroducing them in alternate timelines, and the multiverse opens up possibilities for unexpected returns.
For now, Olga Kurylenko’s honesty about taking a break reminds audiences that behind the superhero films are actors managing intense schedules. She leaves the door open for a potential MCU comeback while enjoying a well-deserved pause from the spotlight.
