Marvel Studios is currently putting Avengers: Doomsday into post-production, with Joe and Anthony Russo—famously known as the Russo Brothers—directing the film. The studio plans to release it in theaters across the United States later this year, and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, will follow in 2027. Fans eagerly await how the massive ensemble cast will come together and which familiar faces will return.
Which MCU Star Will Be Missing in Avengers: Doomsday?
Fans were curious about which characters would return. Kat Dennings, who plays Darcy Lewis, confirmed that she will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she said:
“Well, I’m in the universe. And, as you know, I can’t tell you anything, but I am not in it. I mean, I am not in it. I’m telling you right now that I’m not in it. If I were in it, which I’m not, I couldn’t tell you, but I literally am not. I’m sure they already filmed it. I was here. I’m not in it.”
Could Darcy Lewis Still Appear Digitally?
Dennings also revealed that Marvel scanned her at one point, which means the studio could theoretically insert her character digitally into the movie. However, this seems highly unlikely. Since Darcy has never appeared in an Avengers film and the Doomsday cast is already large, her absence comes as no surprise. Moreover, as Marvel introduces many new heroes and storylines, the studio may focus on fresh faces for this blockbuster.
Darcy Lewis’ MCU Legacy
Darcy Lewis first appeared in 2011’s Thor and has since been a recurring presence in the MCU. Her appearances include Thor: The Dark World (2013), WandaVision (2021), and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). She has also featured in several What If…? episodes, including one storyline where she marries Howard the Duck and has his child.
Over the years, Darcy has become a fan-favorite supporting character, known for her humor, intelligence, and charm. While her absence in Avengers: Doomsday may disappoint longtime fans, it also highlights the MCU’s ongoing evolution and the introduction of new stories that expand the universe in unexpected ways.
